Position Title: Minister of Youth/College Discipleship
Church Phone: (864) 882-2603 ext 109
What do you do here at Saint Mark?
I am responsible for leading youth in grades 6 – college as they seek to find purpose and a relationship with our Lord. We celebrate God’s grace and witness for Christ through Bible study, retreats, service projects, mission work and many weekly times to encourage one another. I also direct the Wings for the Lord youth choir and In His Eyes movement team as we share this love of Christ through song in worship services, annual summer choir tour and other events.
When did you begin working at Saint Mark?
I found this “church of grace” and became a member of Saint Mark in 1982. I volunteered for many years until I came on staff in 2003 as Youth and Children’s Minister.
What was your first job?
I “stamped tobacco” at the age of 11 and when I turned 16, I worked for Harper’s 5 and 10 Department store in Seneca through High School. I continued many jobs until I received my teaching degree and taught first grade for 29 years before coming on staff at Saint Mark.
What was your childhood ambition?
I felt called from a very young age to teach and be involved in music in some way.
Who inspires you?
These youth inspire me every day. Their unconditional love and dedication to Christ and service to others is incredible.
